My daughter gawked at me in utter awe.  I was in the driver’s seat of our brand new Toyota Tundra Truck and spitting and spewing…”How could I have done this AGAIN!!!!, Dang..da…itt…”.  I jumped out of the truck.  My daughter came flying around the other side to see what could possible elevate her mom to this intensity.  She stopped in her tracks, bent over, and wailed in laughter.

The gas hose and pump handle were still attached to the gas tank intake.  I had jumped back in the truck and thought that I could accomplish important things on the phone, on the dash, etc.. while the gas pumped and precious seconds ticked.  When she came back with her mini market purchase, I drove away.

What I accomplished was a $806 bill.  My daughter and I walked inside the AM PM store and announced my mishap.  Everyone in line had to instantly look out the window at my new tail attached to my truck.  Their expressions changed to instant amusement.  At least I made their days.

Hard to admit, that’s the second time I have done that in 5 months.

I didn’t get to run at all today.  This added to my aggitation.  Long, long weekend of timing races.

My Utmost for His Highest. “take no thought for your life.” Matt 6:25. A warning which needs to be reiterated is that the cares of this world, the decitfuless of riches, and the lust of other things entering in, will choke all that God puts in.  We are never free from the recurring tides of this encroachment. If it does not come in the line of clothes and food, it will come on the line of money or lack of money; of friends or lack of friends; or on the line of difficult circumstances.  It is the one steady encroachment all the time, and unless we allow the Spirit of God to raise up the standard against it, these things will come in like a flood. “take no thought for your life.”  Be careful about only your relationship with God even all the while when common sense shouts loud and says, ” that is absurd.  You have to consider what to eat and drink.

Am I trying to race after something that God provides better and in a more eternally timely manner? “If God so Clothed the grass of the field…shall He not so much more cloth you?” Matt 6:30.     PONDER.  PONDER.
